RoK-FOR is a Coordination and Support Action of FP7-REGIONS-2009-1 in the area « Transnational cooperation between regional research- driven clusters ». RoK-FOR is the acronym of the project titled « Sustainable forest management providing renewable energy, sustainable construction and bio-based products ».

This project begins the 1st of February 2010 for 3 years. The Finnish partner is the coordinator and the budget is 1.776.371 € for the 21 partners gathered in five regional research-driven clusters from six European countries: Germany (Baden-Württemberg); Finland (North Karelia); Spain (Catalonia), and the cross-border clusters from Croatia-Serbia and France-Spain (Aquitaine-Basque). RoK-FOR aims to create a ‘region of knowledge’ in the forestry sector in Europe, and will significantly contribute to forest sector supporting sustainable use of natural resources, renewable energy, sustainable construction materials and biobased products, without jeopardizing the environment. These regional research-driven clusters collectively form a European level meta-cluster that will be working together to increase the coherence and address the needs of the three Lead Market Initiatives (renewable energy, sustainable construction, and bio-based products) under the umbrella of the sustainable forest management in an innovative and competitive manner.

The RoK-FOR work programme is divided into seven interconnected and state of the art work packages to analyse the regional R&D needs, capacities and policies of the participating clusters, (part coordinated by EFI Atlantic) and to integrate them in regional research agendas. A Joint Action Plan will be developed in the course of the project. RoK-FOR will also take measures towards implementing the Joint Action Plan, including business plans and R&D design. RoK-FOR will address the European need of capacity building of the clusters in contributing to regional strategies in the central theme of the project, will support integration of SMEs in RTD, and has a specific Work Package for mentoring the cross-border less-favoured regions of Croatia-Serbia.

RoK-FOR est une action de soutien et de coordination du 7ème PCRD-REGIONS-2009-1 dans le domaine de la coopération transnationale des clusters de recherche. C’est l’acronyme du projet européen qui a pour titre : « Gestion durable des forêts pour la production d’énergie renouvelable, de bio-matériaux et le développement de la construction durable ».

Ce projet commence le 1er février 2010 pour une durée de 3 ans. Il est coordonné par le partenaire finlandais. Le budget est de 1 776 371 € pour les 21 partenaires répartis en 5 clusters régionaux de recherche de 6 pays européens : Allemagne (Baden-Württemberg), Finlande (North Karelia), Espagne (Catalonia) et les 2 clusters frontaliers Croatie-Serbie et France-Espagne (Aquitaine-Pays Basque). RoK-FOR a pour but de créer une coopération inter-régionale entre ces 5 clusters en formant un méta-cluster au niveau européen pour coordonner la recherche forêt-bois et définir les besoins des 3 marchés clés (énergie renouvelable, bio-matériaux et construction durable) dans une gestion durable de la forêt de façon compétitive et innovante.

Le programme de RoK-FOR est organisé en 7 parties inter-connectées pour analyser les politiques, les capacités et les besoins régionaux de R&D des clusters participants (partie coordonnée par EFI Atlantique), pour mettre en œuvre un plan commun d’action de recherches et d’affaires qui contribuera aux stratégies régionales de ce domaine, pour intégrer des PMEs dans la RDT et pour développer et renforcer le cluster frontalier de Croatie-Serbie de régions moins favorisées.

RoK-FOR es una acción coordinada de fondos del 7º Programa Marco-Regionas-2009-1 en el área «  Cooperación Transnacional entre clusters regionales de investigación ». RoK-FOR es el acrónimo en Inglés del proyecto con nombre «  Gestión forestal sostenible para el suministro de productos para energía renovables, construcción sostenible y bio-productos ».

Este proyecto comenzará el primero de Febrero 2010 y durará un total de 3 años. El socio Finés es el coodinador de este proyecto, que cuenta con un presupuesto de 1.776.371 € y un total de 21 socios, repartidos en 5 clusters regionales de investigación de un total de 6 países Europeos: Alemania (Baden-Württemberg), Finlandia(Norte de Karelia), España (Cataluña) y los clusters transfronterizos de Croacia-Serbia y Francia-Aquitania (Aquitaine-País Vasco). RoK-FOR intentará crear una región de conocimiento dentro del sector forestal en Europa, para poder contribuír de una manera significativa y sostenible al uso de los recursos naturales para los sectores de energía renovable, construcción sostenible y bioproductos, sin dañar al medio ambiente. Estos clusters de investigación formaran la base, para dar solución a las necesidades de tres tipos de productos energía renovables, construcción sostenible y bioproductos, para que pueden ser generados con una gestión forestal sostenible de una manera novedosa y competitiva respecto a otros sectores productivos.

El programa de trabajo de Rok-For se encuentra dividido en un total de 7 paquetes de trabajo. Su principal objetivo es el analizar las necesidades de I+D, capacidades y políticas de los cluster integrantes ( área coordinada por EFIAtlantic) y de su integración en agendas regionales de investigación. Un plan conjunto de trabajo incluirá planes de negocio, diseño de I+D. RoK-FOR dará respuesta a la necesidad que existe en Europa de crear una estructura de clusters, que puedan ayudar a la creación de estrategias regionales en las áreas que abarca el proyecto. Además ayudará a la integración de la PYME’s en las políticas de RTD. El proyecto también mejorará las de actividades transfronterizas entre algunas regiones de Croacia y Serbia.
